These days, I have a lot of thoughts about whether I should change jobs or not.
I think I need to increase my income, but I don't want to give up work-life balance.
Taking care of work-life balance, my salary doesn't go up...
Then, I saw the annual salary graph of a large company released by People.

Annual salary by position of a large company.

The employee's starting salary is 54 million won.
If you become a deputy manager, your annual salary will double to 14.2 million won.
The promotion period is not shown, but isn't it about 15-20 years?

Anyway, when I saw this graph, I thought, "Oh, this is why I'm going to a large company."
Does our company need to have executives as deputy managers of large corporations?
It's hard to find anyone who has an annual salary of more than 70 million won.
Most of them do not exceed the average annual salary of employees of large companies even if they have more than 10 years of experience.

How much is the monthly income if you get 100 million won?

It is an annual salary calculator provided by a person.
If the annual salary is 100 million won, the actual income is about 6.5 million won per month.
If you have a dependent, you'll get a little more.

The employee-level annual salary of 54 million won is 3.8 million won per month.
Each promotion can be seen as an increase of about 1 million won per month.
It's very difficult to get promoted, but I don't think my salary increases significantly.
1 million won is a lot of money, but when you use it, it disappears easily.

What's the lifetime income of a worker at a large company?

Let's assume that we are promoted every four years to make it easier to calculate.
4 years as an employee.
4 years in charge.
Assistant manager, 4 years.
Manager for 4 years.
Deputy General Manager, 4 years.
4 years as a manager.

If you joined the company at the age of 30, you will be a manager at the age of 54.
And the total earned income for 24 years is about 1.6 billion won.
Assuming that you receive severance pay, 10 million won per month*24 years= approximately 240 million won.
In conclusion, workers with steady average salaries without losing promotion at large companies can earn about 1.8 billion won.

Compared to small and medium-sized enterprises, income is beyond par.

By the way,

I understand that the income of large companies is high.
By the way,
Why doesn't 1.8 billion won feel so real?
You can't save 100 percent of your money, so if you think you spend about half, the remaining money is 900 million won.
If you don't invest and just collect earned income, you'll have 900 million won at the time of retirement.
If I had worked for a large company for 24 years, I would be in the top 1% of Korean workers.
But I don't think the top 1% of the money is collected.

It was a graph that made me realize again that no matter how much my salary was, I could not retire as a rich person by collecting only earned income.
